Waihōpai Invercargill is New Zealand's southernmost city and the heart and hub of Southland. This is a fixed-term position until March 2023 to cover a secondment. Reporting to the Manager - Quality Assurance you will support the delivery of internal audit and advisory services within Council. You'll be part of a dedicated team helping management and the risk and assurance committee fulfil their roles and responsibilities to establish, maintain and monitor an effective quality assurance system.

Our Quality Assurance team provides independent assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls to the Risk and Assurance Committee, external auditors and regulatory bodies. We are looking for an Internal Auditor to help deliver high-quality audits which assist the organisation to achieve its objectives through the promotion of internal controls.

Ideally, you'll have a relevant tertiary qualification and previous experience as an internal auditor, a sound knowledge of Local Government, an understanding of the importance of written processes and procedures, the ability to influence stakeholders as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
