Team Leader — Water & Wastewater (Tumut)


An exciting opportunity exists to join our Management team in our Water & Wastewater Team based in Tumut.

Primary Purpose

Direct, engage and support the day-to-day work of the team to undertake their work efficiently, effectively and safely.

Key components of this position will include:

  • Use financial, human and physical resources efficiently, effectively and responsibly to complete tasks that either contribute to or directly deliver services.
  • Deliver the services of the team in accordance with legislation, adopted strategies and plans to meet community needs and organisational priorities.
  • Guide the team's contribution and performance to enhance service quality, accessibility and responsiveness.
  • Inform, advise and educate the team and infrastructure and assets leadership on matters relating to parks, open spaces, town services and amenities to facilitate efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team including weekend work, on call and after-hours services at either the Tumut/Brungle Water and Sewer Plant(s).
  • Promote information sharing and knowledge transfer to drive evidence-based decision-making, enhance capability and optimise capacity.
  • Safe and effective management of contractor resources. Do you have the following skills and experience?

Essential Criteria

  • Certificate III qualification in Water Industry Services, or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through experience and recognised industry training.
  • Contemporary knowledge and demonstrated application of plumbing principles and practices.
  • Contemporary experience in a supervisory role or extensive technical experience with demonstrated leadership potential.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise work, manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply plans, specifications, operating instructions and written procedures.
  • Demonstrated work experience in similar position leading a team.
  • You will be required to complete work in the plants every fourth (4Th) weekend and be on call one (1) in every eight (8) weeks and you will also be required to work some public holidays at either the Tumut/Brungle Water and Sewer Plant(s).
  • Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
  • Undertake or be tested for Hepatitis A & B and tetanus vaccinations
  • Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
  • Class C drivers' licence.

Desirable Criteria

  • Fluoridation of Public Water Supplies Operation Certificate.
  • Confined Space Ticket.
  • Class MR drivers' licence.

Council does have flexible work arrangements and whereby there is a 9-day fortnight. Other benefits include:

SALARY

Salary will be paid in accordance with the Snowy Valleys Council Salary System at Grade 8 which ranges from $2,864.13 per fortnight (gross) to $3,223.70 per fortnight (gross) dependant on skills, qualifications and experience plus 11% superannuation and allowances.
