The Shire of Victoria Plains is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Community Safety Officer to join its vibrant team of enthusiastic staff. The Shire is in the central wheatbelt of Western Australia 140 kilometres north east of the City of Perth.

As the Community Safety Officer your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing administrative and operational support in all areas of Emergency Management
  • Providing community education in fire safety, storm preparation and Emergency Management to better prepare the community in the event of an emergency
  • Provide Community Safety initiatives.
  • Provide Animal Control and Local Law enforcement when required.

·     This includes, working proactively and cohesively with other team members, to ensure that an effective and highly integrated approach is taken to the provision of best practice and sustainable services and programs, within the Shire of Victoria Plains.

To be successful for this position applicants will need to have:

  • Experience in understanding Local Emergency Management Arrangements (LEMA) in accordance with the relevant legislation.
  • Understanding of the Local Government Liaison Officer roll.
  • Experience in Local Government animal control or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with the community to increase awareness of community safety.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to function effectively to meet short deadlines in a pressured environment and work autonomously.

The Shire is offering employment subject to ongoing funding with an attractive remuneration package inclusive of superannuation, uniforms, business and commuting use of a 4x4 Isuzu King Cab Utility.
