The Opportunity

Position Purpose

This role is logistics position and responsible for providing professional and high-level operational services to deliver works in line with the agreed objectives as per the Shire’s adopted Strategic Community Plan, Corporate Business Plan, Asset Management Plans and Annual Budget.

Requirements for the roll

Essential

  • Demonstrated strong leadership and ability to lead others and take ownership to resolve issues that may influence the delivery of service in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Strong ability to plan, develop, implement and manage the day to day operations of the Shire’s employees and contractors in maintenance and construction;
  • A demonstrated history of road and drainage construction;
  • Strong organisational and time management skills in order to manage multiple projects tasks at any one time, set priorities, plan and organise work in order to meet specific timeframes and allocated tasks as well as support others in meeting agreed deliverables;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety requirements;
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and expediently;
  • Demonstrated use and knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, engineering software applications.
  • High level demonstrated knowledge in, and understanding of asset management planning and development of policy, strategy, processes and procedures;
  • Demonstrated experience relating to the selection and application of a heavy equipment and plant used in operations;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role; and
  • Local Government experience and/or knowledge of Local Government infrastructure assets (including buildings, leisure centres, libraries, jetties, playgrounds, airports, roads, bridges, drainage) and systems.

Qualifications and Licences

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent;
  • Provide Advanced First Aid Qualification;
  • Current unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence;
  • Current Blue/White Construction Safety Card; and
  • A current National Police Clearance certificate (dated within the last 6 months).

Desirable

  • Knowledge or experience using IT Vision SynergySoft and Mandalay;
  • Additional business, asset and/or project management related qualifications;
  • Demonstrated understanding of HR related standards and Acts, and how these relate to daily works activities, in consultation and support of the Shire current HR/safety team.

Housing & Relocation

The Shire currently has subsidised housing available for this position valued at $15,000 per annum (reflective of the best estimate of value at the time of advertising).

Whereby subsidised housing is not available or the successful candidate otherwise opts to receive an allowance in lieu of subsidised housing, a housing allowance of $15,000 per annum will be provided via payroll on a fortnightly basis.

If you are relocating to Kununurra, the Shire will also pay up to $15,000 toward relocation costs (to be claimed within 6 months of commencement).
