About the role

This role requires a qualified, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who will report to the Team Leader - Building to undertake the delivery of professional and timely assessment of building applications, undertake mandatory building inspections and provide advice to Council and the community on related matters.

Who are we looking for?

Working in a diverse environment, you will take a pro-active approach in undertaking the building assessment and inspection function of council. You will have experience in the assessment and approval of a wide range of development applications and the undertaking of  inspections. You will be well versed in dealing with public and industry professionals and have sound knowledge in the use of computer based development systems (e.g. GIS) database management and reporting functions. Accreditation as a Building Surveyor (Level 2 or 3) under the National Accreditation Framework is essential to be considered for this role

You will also have:

• Demonstrated ability to provide efficient, proactive, informative and responsive service to all customers, consistent with legislation, regulations, Council policies, vision, aspirations and  core values.
• Demonstrated experience in providing technical expertise and advice to Council, external organisations and the community on building rules and development issues.
• Ability to interpret and apply accurately relevant Acts, Regulations, Standards, Codes and guidelines.
• Ability to physically inspect buildings and sites.
