Events and Activation Support Officer

The City Events and Activation Support Officer will support the coordination and delivery of major events for Council and assist the team in implementing Council's Events calendar and Events framework. 

This opportunity will be offered on a permanent full-time basis.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Supporting the monitoring, implementation and review of Council's annual events calendar.
  • Supporting the coordination and delivery of major events for Council including Australia Day, Lunar New Year, Christmas Programming, Bankstown Bites, Ramadan and other major events.
  • Building relationships with key staff and community representatives.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to attract local and external stakeholders to Council’s events.
  • Providing a high level of event support including reporting, development of event documentation and drafting of correspondence.
  • Following all WHS procedures and policies and complete required WHS documentation relevant to work activity.
  • Consult with, advise and support appropriate events committees to manage, support and deliver quality events.
  • Participate in projects across the City Business and Engagement Unit, as required, and undertake other duties relevant to the role or skills required by the position.

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in Event Management, Marketing or a related discipline and/or a minimum 3 years appropriate professional experience 
  • A current Class C drivers’ license and own reliable transport 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills 
  • Experience in major event management 
  • Ability to operate within a dynamic multi-disciplined, multi-project environment. 
  • Ability to prepare and monitor budgets. 
  • Flexibility to work after hours and weekends.

The salary range for this opportunity commences at $67,993 (Grade E Step1) + 10% super
