The angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

AIM Services is a Full Facility maintenance provider looking after Auckland's parks, sports fields, streetscape, community buildings, Chamberlain Golf course, Auckland domain and the Airport.

 

AIM Services is also responsible for the full facilities contracts of the North Shore Memorial Park, Waikumete and Manukau Memorial Garden cemeteries.

 

We are currently looking for experienced and assistant gardeners and grounds maintenance operators or simply people interested in growing their career in Horticulture to fill different roles in our team.

 

In these roles you will be generally responsible for maintaining Gardens, shrub and Bush areas in many Parks, Streets, Cycleways and Cemetery environments. You will be performing tasks like weed control by hand, herbicide spray, pruning to promote healthy plant growth, mowing, weed eating, annual bedding, hedge trimming, planting, mulching and general garden and ground maintenance, according to your level of experience and the contract specification.

 

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

  • Naturally, you will have passion for green spaces and enjoying working outdoors in all weather.
  • Previous experience in horticulture or soft landscaping would be a bonus.
  • A strong Health and Safety focus is importatnt.
  • Being able to positively interact with other team members & the public, that result in   beneficial outcomes is essential.
  • Have a good ability to pick things up quickly and to offer result oriented options to issues that that may arise.
  • Have a positive attitude to life where you are the answer the not the problem.
  • A Clean full New Zealand Class1 driver licence and ability to drive manual vehicles is a must for this role.
  • Qualifications such as Growsafe or National Certificates Level 3 or 4 in Horticulture are a real bonus but not necessary.
  • A good knowledge of trees shrubs, perennial plant names, common pests (plants & insects) & weeds, would be a distinct advantage.
