The Opportunity

Council is seeking a Senior Planning Support Officer to join the Statutory Planning Department. This position will play a key role in leading in the Planning Support Team through development, delivery and administration of various processes and procedures.

 

This Senior Planning Support Officer will:

  • Administer and manage the Planning Support Team’s provision of administrative services to the Statutory Planning Department

 

  • To produce staff rosters for the department and assess leave applications against resource requirements.

 

  • To act as the escalation officer for the Statutory Planning Support Team and troubleshoot operational issues.

 

  • To administer customer service systems and provision of planning, subdivision, VCAT and enforcement information for the Statutory Planning Department.

 

This role is suitable for those individuals with experience in business, public administration, Statutory Planning or other relevant experience relating to work within a local government office. Experience in the Urban planning/development system would be of an advantage.  

 

About You

In order to be suitable for this position, you will ideally possess the following:

  • Administration focused qualification or similar and some experience in supervising contractors and administering contracts, or substantial experience in the field of business, public administration, office management, or Statutory Planning
  • A significant component of experience would be expected to be in a customer service role, with well-developed knowledge of planning processes and legislation.
  • Familiarity with and ability to use spreadsheets, word processing packages, presentation, database and other relevant computer and system applications. Knowledge of the Pathways local government software package is desirable.
