About the Role

Based at the Dalby, you will be responsible for providing direct support to the Utilities Manager and assisting with Utilities Management focused on scheduling of works, risk mitigation, data management, reporting, projects, fault investigations and continual improvement opportunities. This role will directly contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of utilities services to the Western Downs Community.

Reporting to the Utilities Manager, you will:

  • Assist with the development of appropriate strategic direction and planning for the utilities function, consistent with achieving the outcomes contained in Council's Corporate, Division and Operational Plans;
  • Oversee the development, implementation and continual improvement of the utilities capital and maintenance work program, budgeting and resourcing strategy to constantly seek efficiency in all aspects of resource utilization in executing those functions;
  • Actively seek, prepare and submit applications for funding and grant schemes;
  • Supporting and training of utilities staff and direct reports for specialist equipment and activity, to ensure compliance with operational standards; and
  •  Overseeing the development, implementation and continual improvement of statutory and non-statutory documents to ensure the management of risk and compliance matters relating to the operation of gas, water and sewerage schemes.

About you

The successful applicant will have:

  • a relevant qualification in Civil, Mechanical, Process or Environmental Engineering in a related field, OR be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience;
  • OH&S Construction Safety Induction White Card;
  • Certification in the water/wastewater industry or equivalent industry experience;
  • Knowledge of Asset Management principles relating to Local Government infrastructure; and
  • Knowledge of legislation and standards relevant to Local Government and Utilities Services.
