We are seeking a dynamic individual to step into the role of Economic Development Officer for the vibrant Mackay region. The position calls for a natural collaborator with experience in delivering economic development strategies, actions, and initiatives. The ideal candidate will proactively engage with the region’s business community, industry groups, and economic development partners. Location:

Mackay Region spans 7,621 square kilometres on the Central Queensland coast. Enjoy an idyllic lifestyle with picturesque beaches, nearby island resorts, stunning rainforests, and a fantastic climate. Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake project work aligned with Council’s Corporate Plan and economic development strategies
  • Develop and nurture strong networks, partnerships, and relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Research, compile, and prepare economic development materials including reports, promotional materials, economic data, articles, and web-based content

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Qualification in Economics, Arts, Business, Marketing, or a related field
  • Experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, small businesses, other government levels, and the community
  • Project coordination experience, meeting targets within set timeframes, and ability to work autonomously
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite and economic modelling tools like REMPLAN
  • Ability to plan and deliver project outcomes within agreed timeframes
  • Current Queensland “C” class driver’s licence
