About the role

We have not one but two positions available in our awesome Customer Service and Information team! We have one permanent, part time and one fixed term, part time role up for grabs, both based at the Moruya Administration Office. Customer Service and Information Officers provide a comprehensive and excellent standard of customer service, communicating effectively and sensitively with Council’s customers over the phone, in person and online. They also provide a secure, accessible records and information service that meets all Council and legislative requirements.

The main duties will include:

  • Undertaking all aspects of customer service responsibilities at Council’s front desk, including responding to enquiries, providing advice, cashier service, raising applications and invoices, issuing facility keys and ordering stationery.
  • Operating Council’s phone Switchboard with efficiency and precision, as well as updating various databases crucial to the role.
  • Processing Informal Access to View a Property File applications, including digitisation of building files and privacy checking.
  • Undertaking records management duties such as the retrieval and disposal of documents in line with legislative requirements and coordinating mail distribution services.
  • Assisting in the preparation and ongoing review of procedure guides, actively identifying areas for improvement, as well as training of other staff members.

Salary Information

Total remuneration for the role is in the range $37.73 to $41.44 gross per hour consisting of:

  • $33.99 to $37.33 base salary
  • $3.74 to $4.11 superannuation (at 11%)

A satisfactory outcome as a result of a National Criminal History Record Check is required for appointment to this position.

  • Certificate III in Customer Service or equivalent, or relevant work experience.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with high organisation and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication alongside strong computer skills.
  • The ability to assess customer needs and handle difficult customers.
  • The ability and willingness to gain knowledge of a range of Council operations, programs and services.
  • Capacity to read, interpret and apply legislation to ensure Council meets its legal responsibilities.
