The MECC is in search of an enthusiastic and driven individual to become a Bar Supervisor and join our dedicated and passionate team. You will have the opportunity to oversee operations at three exciting venues, including the MECC, Foodspace, and BB Print Stadium, where we create exceptional event experiences. As a Bar Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in leading a skilled, amiable, and dynamic team, ensuring the delivery of top-notch catering services to a diverse range of customers in an award-winning venue. Ideal candidates will possess a strong understanding of RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) and WHS (Work Health and Safety) obligations. We offer flexible working arrangements for this permanent part-time position.

About the Role

The precinct is looking for a passionate, experienced, reliable and hard-working Foodspace Supervisor to supervise a team of casual staff and friends of the theatre, to provide efficient and profitable bar operations.

The successful applicant will have the following knowledge and skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective direction, guidance and constructive feedback to staff and/or Volunteers engaged in food and beverage preparation and service.
  • Ability to understand House Policy and ability to enforce it.
  • Extensive experience in beverage preparation, functions and events and beverage service skills.
  • Extensive experience in functions and events, especially in a mixed theatre /functions environment.
  • Blue Card - It is an essential requirement for this position to hold a Working with Children Blue Card. Under Queensland legislation, you must hold the Blue Card prior to commencing employment – No Card, No Start policy. If you currently do not hold a Blue Card, we recommend you commence the application process when you apply for the position.   • Current Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate.
  • Current QLD ‘C’ Class drivers licence.

Salary and benefit details:

  • Permanent part-time – 20+ hours per week (Applicants must be willing to partake in an any five (5) out of seven (7) roster including weekends and nights.)
  • Base hourly rate from $28.85"
  • Up to 18% superannuation (conditions apply)
  • 4 weeks’ annual leave with 17.5% leave loading (pro-rata basis)
