Position Purpose

This role is responsible for operating the Shire’s plant and equipment to assist in delivering the Shire works program and maintenance of roads and drainage and other works in the Kununurra site and surrounds.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications required for the role

Essential

  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy plant – e.g. Trucks, Backhoe, Skid Steer Loaders, Slashers, Bobcats and Excavator;
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of road and drainage maintenance with sealed and unsealed roads;
  • Ability to interpret drawings and plans;
  • Working knowledge of Road Reserve maintenance;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment;
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and complete in a timely manner;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide good customer service and to provide a high level of service to members of the public.

Qualifications, Memberships and Licenses

  • Current unrestricted WA ’HR’ Class Driver’s Licence;
  • Current Provide First Aid Certificate;
  • Current Blue/White Construction Safety Card;
  • Current plant operator’s certificate/s;
  • Relevant qualifications/certifications (minimum Certificate III level) in Civil Construction and/ or Machinery operation;
  • An acceptable National Police Clearance Certificate (dated within the last 6 months).

Desirable

  • 2 years full time experience in a similar role;
  • Traffic Controller certificate;
  • Previous experience in Local Government.

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • ADT (Diphtheria, Tetanus and Whooping Cough)

Remuneration Package and Location

This is a fulltime role with a remuneration package ranging between $88,000 to $92,000 (depending on experience) per annum.

The role will be based from the Shire's Depot in Kununurra however staff are required at times to work between Kununurra and Wyndham.
