Mackay Regional Council is looking for an enthusiastic Parks Maintenance Officer to become part of the Parks and Open Spaces team on a permanent full-time basis based at the Paget Depot.

About these Opportunities:

The team you will join contributes to maintaining and preserving Mackay Regional Council’s Park assets by undertaking basic gardening, landscape improvements and general maintenance duties. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in mowing and operating small plant equipment, including tractors, mowers, chainsaws, mulchers, brush cutters, chippers, blower vacs.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team and strong attention to detail with ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Safety as a high priority when operating plant and equipment and take pride in their work.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • General Construction Induction Training
  • QLD “C” Class Drivers Licence or interstate equivalent
  • Medium Rigid (MR) Licence
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of large ride-on mowers, whipper snippers and small plant including power tools and equipment used for general maintenance tasks.

Prospective candidates who are shortlisted will undergo a practical demonstration during the interview process, showcasing their proficiency with diverse equipment such as ride-on mowers, whipper snippers, and hedge trimmers.

Salary & Employee Benefits:

  • Base annual salary from $57,018 - $59,319 + allowance as applicable (level offered will be dependent on successful candidates’ qualification and experience)
  • Up to 18% superannuation (conditions apply)
  • Choice of 4 or 5 weeks’ annual leave with 17.5% leave loading
