(Base salary does not include overtime rates which are payable on all hours worked on Saturday and Sunday)

The Whitsunday Regional Council is situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef.  The region encompasses the 74 tropical Whitsunday Islands, the coastal towns of Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Shute Harbour and Bowen along with the rural towns of Proserpine and Collinsville.  The Whitsunday region offers a dynamic environment and is perfectly placed to live, work, play and invest.

The Role

An exciting opportunity exists within our Officer of the Mayor & CEO – Commercial Business directorate for a Whitsunday Coast Airport Customer Service Officer.  In this role, you will be responsible for providing a first point of contact for the passengers and visitors at the Whitsunday Coast Airport.

A roster will be provided in accordance with flight schedules and operational needs.  This roster is subject to periodic adjustment and is open for discussions with the successful applicant when negotiating any necessary changes.  The current rostered hours will be:

Week 1

Saturday – 8:00am to 3:30pm (30 minutes for lunch)

Sunday – 11:00am to 8:30pm (30 minutes for lunch

Monday – 9:30am to 3:30pm (30 minutes for lunch)

Thursday – 9:30am to 3:30pm (30 minutes for lunch)

Friday – 9:30am to 3:30pm (30 minutes for lunch)

Week 2

Sunday – 11:00am to 8:30pm (30 minutes for lunch)

Monday – 9:30am to 3:30pm (30 minutes for lunch)

Thursday – 9:30am to 3:30pm (30 minutes for lunch)

Friday – 9:30am to 3:30pm (30 minutes for lunch)

Essential

  1. C Class Drivers Licence.
  2. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Applications.
  3. Previous customer services experience, preferably in an airport or airline setting.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable

  1. Ability to handle challenging situations with patience and professionalism.
  2. Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  3. Knowledge of airline policies, procedures, and security protocols.
  4. Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
