Your Position:

Burwood Council is seeking an experienced and multi-skilled Team Leader to plan and coordinate the landscape construction and maintenance in various parks/reserves and streetscape areas. For this position you will require strong leadership and communication skills and be able to oversee the day to day tasks of the Labourer/Drivers within your team.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Planning and scheduling of daily and weekly routines for landscape maintenance
  • Leading and developing a small team of staff and allocating workloads appropriately
  • Supervise contractors in your area of responsibility
  • Operate plant or implements Eg. roller, excavator, front-end loader/backhoe, flowcon, high-pressure water blaster
  • Carry out minor maintenance of vehicles including washing and daily inspection of fuels, oil and water

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A demonstrated ability to coordinate the work activities of a team of outdoor staff associated with landscaping, parks and gardens construction and maintenance works
  • Excellent comminication skills
  • An understanding of the principles of EEO, WH&S and cultural diversity and how they are applied in the workplace
  • Experience in the operation of mid-sized ride-on mowers and other small plant associated with parks and gardens (whipper-snippers, rotary hoe etc).

Key Requirements:

  • COVID 19 vaccination for all employees (2 Vaccines)
  • Willingness to complete a National Police History Check
  • Willingness to complete a pre-employment health assessment
  • Class MR Driver's Licence
  • OHS Introduction to Construction certificate (White Card)
  • Horticultural Qualification, Certificate III TAFE qualifications
  • Traffic Controllers Certificate, Implement Traffic Control Plans and Prepare Traffic Management Plans OR preparedness to obtain these qualifications
