Coordinator Development Compliance


About the position:

This position sits within the Regulatory Services branch and is responsible for ensuring the City’s obligations and functions, primarily within the development, planning and building services areas are carried out in a customer focused, professional, legal and efficient manner. The role is responsible for leading a small team in the provision of compliance advice and education, undertaking research and investigations, recommending and implementing corrective actions and undertaking legal proceedings.

Key accountabilities:

  • Respond to general enquiries/complaints (personal, written or telephone) relating to area of expertise.
  • Undertake investigations and inspections to assess compliance with all relevant legislation and Council policy, recommending and implementing appropriate actions to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Effectively liaise with relevant stakeholders, providing expert advice and specialist support in the delivery, review, investigation and/or resolution of compliance matters.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and direction to team members to maximise performance and productivity through mentoring, coaching, training, development and performance management.

Position requirements:

The successful candidate will possess relevant qualifications in a compliance-driven field, with proven experience researching, interpreting and applying legislation to achieve compliance outcomes. Previous local government experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary starting from $93,420 per annum or $47.2733 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
