About your new branch

Infrastructure Delivery is responsible for the project management and construction of capital works for all customer and community facing infrastructure and for the management and coordination of fleet operations.

About your new role

Team members in the Fleet Operators department work alongside their team leaders and site supervisors in an environment made up of Drivers, Operators and Construction staff. We are currently seeking expressions of interest from skilled drivers for tipper truck, tipper/trailer & water truck operations and experienced plant operators to provide service delivery to our internal customers.

Responsibilities include:
  • The delivery of cost-effective fleet and plant solutions for internal council service providers safely and efficiently.
  • Recording driver operator prestart maintenance records, risk assessments and fault reporting of Council's heavy plant and equipment
  • Performing administrative duties such as answer telephones, two-way radios, work orders, logbooks, incident reports, assist in the allocation office and routine paperwork
  • From time to time, assisting other council staff and contractors on site. This may entail manual labouring and the use of hand tools.
  • Maintaining a high level of customer service by liaising with relevant project supervisors regarding the safe and efficient employment of plant and equipment on job sites.
  • Performing other duties, as directed from time to time by the Supervisor Fleet Operations, provided that such tasks are within the competency of the nominated role.
  • Using computer systems like Microsoft Office.

What you bring to your new role

  • Extensive experience in Water truck driving/operating, including standpipe use or in operating tip trucks including truck & dogs or plant operator tickets.
  • Be well-developed in interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Have a high level of self-motivation and initiative, with the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Have the ability to prioritise and multi-task in a business support environment effectively.
  • Have the ability to think laterally and apply problem-solving techniques and develop and implement solutions.
  • Have the ability to work productively in a team environment and foster good relationships with other team members.
  • Deliverable able to deliver high-quality service to customers (internal/external) and understands and reacts responsively to customer expectations.
  • Have the ability to work weekends and public holiday where required.
