Are you experienced in strategic planning and issue analysis and seeking your next challenge? We currently have an exciting opportunity for a strong communicator (including communicating data) with expertise in juggling multiple projects to become a key member of our innovative City Plan Unit. 

Reporting to the Coordinator Integrated Planning and Innovation, you will play an integral role in the development and maintenance of an organisation performance reporting system, and assist the organisation with data collection, analysis and communication. You will also contribute to the development of key Integrated Planning and Reporting documents and projects.

This is a permanent full time position. The salary range for this opportunity commences at $91,935 pro-rata (Grade H, Step 1) + 10% super.

Responsibilities: 

  • Liaise with management, staff and stakeholders to develop and implement the integrated planning framework and other key corporate documents
  • Conduct consultation with community and stakeholders to ensure their needs are considered at all levels of planning. 
  • Undertake research and analysis to understand demographics, community strengths, needs and emerging strategic issues. 
  • Prepare key plans and polices to support the implementation of the Community Strategic Plan. 
  • Brief and manage external consultancies for key strategic projects as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external partners and stakeholders. 
  • Provide advice and recommendations on strategic, corporate and business planning issues. 
  • Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to stakeholders and interested parties as required. 
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports on the implementation of the integrated planning framework. 
  • Be responsible for the development and implementation of Council’s performance reporting system. 
  • Provide input into the annual budget planning process.
  • Responsible for other matters and projects as directed by the Coordinator Integrated Planning and Innovation and the Manager City Plan.

To be considered for this opportunity you will need to possess the following: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in economics, urban planning, social policy or environmental planning, or related discipline and / or relevant experience.
  • Experience in strategic planning and issue analysis in public or private sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • A high level of computer proficiency – with particular reference to management of databases, reporting and presentations. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people from all levels of community, business and government. 
  • Demonstrated experience to identify and research complex issues and propose solutions at a local level. 
  • Ability to contribute positively to team based projects, either as a leader or team member. 
  • Ability to produce work of a high quality within established timeframes and with minimal supervision
