An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic, motivated and results-driven individual to join our Customer Experience and Recreation Unit as the Active Lifestyles Officer within the Recreation Team.

You will be responsible for managing the Active Canterbury-Bankstown Program and develop and implement an annual program of initiatives, events and activities to support this Council strategy.  You will contribute to establishing Canterbury-Bankstown as a place with a diverse range of leisure and recreation opportunities to enhance quality of life for residents, workers and visitors.

This opportunity will be offered on a Temporary Full-Time basis. The salary range for this position commences at $ 72,782 (Grade F, Step 1) + 10% super.

Accountabilities

  • Manage the Active Canterbury-Bankstown program by developing, planning and conducting a range of community recreation initiatives, events and programs in the Canterbury-              Bankstown LGA that support the Active Canterbury-Bankstown Strategy. 
  • Develop, manage and continuously review an effective school engagement program to target students and deliver activities leading to longer-term engagement in physical activity.
  • Focus on investigating sponsorship packages for Active Canterbury-Bankstown and seek and obtain appropriate sponsors.
  • Work collaboratively to develop monthly newsletters for members of the Active CanterburyBankstown club and further develop marketing, including the use of social media, to                promote recreational events and opportunities.
  • Develop content for periodical Council publications to disseminate information and increase community awareness of recreation programs and services available to the community.

Essential criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field(s) or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in event management and well-developed project management skills
  • Well-developed skills in marketing and promotion of services and programs.
  • Experience with a web content management system and social media platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to manage community expectations and relationships. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Government, sporting, recreation, and community organisations
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required.
