The Chief Executive Officer is seeking to appoint a Deputy CEO to join their team and work together to deliver the Council’s strategic direction and vision for the Shire.

Situated 240kms north of Kalgoorlie, the Shire of Leonora is a leading regional economic driver with a socially interactive and inclusive community. The Shire is a significant Australian region with a proud history steeped in hard work, prospecting, resourcefulness and true Aussie grit and determination.

Working alongside the Chief Executive Officer, the Deputy CEO will be responsible for assisting with the day to day running of the organisation, ensuring the integrity of projects and services, providing innovative and proactive leadership to the Finance, Administration and Community Services areas, and contributing to the Shire’s drive to continue growing and enhancing the community’s strong foundations.

Applicants will need to possess a relevant tertiary qualification and have a sound understanding of accounting practices and standards, demonstrated experience in effectively leading multidisciplinary teams, excellent interpersonal skills and working knowledge of Local Government regulations, governance and financial reporting obligations. Ideally applicants will be aspiring toward a Chief Executive Officer role.

This position is offered on a performance-based contract of between three and five years with a remuneration package in the range of $160,000 - $183,000 per annum. The package includes a base salary, to be negotiated with the successful applicant, an executive 4x2 home, a motor vehicle with private use, superannuation, leave loading, professional development, phone and utilities allowances. An unrestricted recreation allowance may also be negotiated, depending upon skills and experience.
