Governance Officer



An exciting opportunity exists to join Councils Governance and Risk team on a full-time, job share or flexible working arrangement (ie: school-based hours).

The successful candidate will enjoy a role that provides variety and opportunity. We are seeking an individual who is well organised with strong planning and organisational skills and is an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to establish and maintain relationships with people at different levels across the organisation. You will need to have a demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement and prioritise tasks as well as work in a dynamic and fast paced environment. Self-motivation and the ability to work to resolve issues and deliver quality outcomes will be highly regarded.

This is a permanent position based in the beautiful Snowy Valleys, offering flexible working arrangements. The position will be located in either our Tumut or Tumbarumba Office, with travel required to the alternate office.

Key components of this position will include:

  • Coordinate the governance frameworks for administering and reporting on the council’s obligation under the relevant legislation and council policies and procedures to facilitate compliance.
  • Maintain corporate registers including complaints, policies, procedures, forms, legal docs, pecuniary interests, contracts, delegations, compliance and GIPPA.
  • Support the governance of Council by providing guidance and advice across all business units.
  • Inform and educate the workforce on the council’s obligations to facilitate compliance.
  • Support Council through the Council election process.
  • Promote information sharing, multi-skilling and knowledge transfer to drive evidence-based decision-making, enhance capability and optimise capacity.

SALARY
Salary will be paid in accordance with the Snowy Valleys Council Salary System at Grade 7 ranging from $2,531.20 to $2,848.90 per fortnight (gross) plus 9.5% superannuation depending on skills, experience and education.
