Cafe Assistant - Liquid Cafe

Ever wanted to work in a cafe right by the water?

Splash Palace is one of New Zealand's premier aquatic facilities and has a strong team approach to ensure the safety, wellbeing and fun of its visitors. With around 1400 visitors coming through the door each day, Splash Palace is a busy place!

At Liquid Cafe, located at Splash Palace, we are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to join our Aquatic Services department on a permanent part-time basis. We are a small team committed to delivering an excellent customer experience to ensure our guests' visits are memorable and keep them coming back for more.

In this position, you will be responsible for the day-to-day provision of cafe services including food and beverage preparation, customer enquiries, cash handling and ensuring the cleanliness and tidy presentation of the cafe area.

The successful candidate will ideally have prior experience in the hospitality industry but it's your flair in dealing with people that will stand out! You will be comfortable in engaging with customers, will demonstrate a "can-do" attitude, and have the ability to multitask and work under pressure.

Having a current Food and Hygiene Certificate and First Aid Certificate is preferable, but not essential prior to starting as we will assist the right candidate to gain these. If you are a qualified barista - great! If not, you just need to be eager to learn how to make great coffee!

Working Friday, Saturday and Sunday inclusively, this position requires flexibility as extra shifts often become available, and our ideal candidate would be available to pick these up.

Invercargill City Council is committed to the wellbeing and protection of children, the elderly and vulnerable adults. As a component of this role involves interaction with one or more of the above groups, as part of the assessment of candidates, we will require Police Vetting and a Pre-employment Alcohol and Drug Screening to ensure we are providing a safe environment for our customers and members of the public.

For more information please see the full job description online or contact the Invercargill City Council on 03 211 1777.

Please note, all applicants will need to have the right to live and work in New Zealand. While all applications will be reviewed, only those who meet our criteria will be contacted.
