Team Leader - Collections

It's an exciting time to be in Invercargill and a privilege to work in this region.

You can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and endless recreational activities that Invercargill has to offer with Central Otago, Fiordland and the Catlins on our doorstep. As New Zealand's southernmost city we proudly encourage a good work-life balance and with direct flights to Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington the rest of the world is also within easy reach.

With a high level of confidence, our prosperous southern city is undergoing the biggest resurgence in its 166-year history. Invercargill's reputation for being family-friendly is well deserved, with affordable housing, great schools, and amazing facilities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-organised person to take a leadership role in the delivery of collections and collection development across Invercargill City Libraries. This role is responsible for leading the development of our e-collections, developing and maintaining a designated collection, performance development of Collections Assistants, and managing acquisitions and processing workflows to ensure successful delivery of new stock to our customers. A major part of the role will be working with the Manager Heritage & Collections to constantly review and improve customer satisfaction with regards to collections.

With demonstrated experience in collection development practices and a strong customer focus, you will have an understanding of statistics and how to use them to inform decision-making, be confident in using new technologies, and be solutions-focused. Your great attention to detail will ensure streamlining workflows and processes are undertaken efficiently.

Having built successful relationships both internally and externally, your experience will ensure staff feel well supported and customers receive the best front line service.

At Invercargill City Council we pride ourselves on our values - positivity, respect, responsibility and above and beyond. Finding the right fit for our team is really important to us and we work hard to provide an environment reflective of these values.

As part of the assessment of candidates, we will require Police Vetting as per the Children's Act 2014 and a Pre-employment Alcohol and Drug Screening test to ensure we are providing a safe environment for our customers and members of the public.

For more information please see the full job description or contact the Invercargill City Council on 03 211 1777.

Please note, all applicants will need to have the right to live and work in New Zealand. While all applications will be reviewed, only those who meet our criteria will be contacted.
