Mackay Regional Council are seeking an experienced Leading Hand Parks Maintenance to join our Parks and Open Spaces team, this permanent full-time position comes with a 9-day fortnight roster.

The Role:

The Leading Hand Parks Maintenance is responsible for assisting in the delivery of scheduled maintenance activities for grass, garden beds, trees, cemeteries and camping grounds.

As a Leading Hand Parks Maintenance, you will be a pivotal part of our team, responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of our Parks Maintenance crew. Your role will involve hands-on work in park upkeep, landscaping, horticulture, and equipment operation, while also guiding your team to achieve high standards of maintenance.

Working under regular direction, the Leading Hand Parks Maintenance will assist to deliver quality maintenance services in line with agreed levels of service.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • QLD “C” Class Drivers Licence or interstate equivalent
  • Certificate in Horticulture/Turf Management Certificate or relevant experience in this field
  • General Construction Induction Training
  • Light Rigid (LR) Licence
  • ACDC Weed Spraying Licence or willing to obtain
  • Chainsaw Ticket Level 1 Licence or willing to obtain.
  • Experience communicating work instructions to a team.
  • Experience in the planning, scheduling and delivery of tasks and projects.

  • Base annual salary from $59,319 + allowances
  • Up to 18% superannuation (conditions apply)
