We are looking for:

Byron Shire Council is currently seeking two Planning Support Officers within the Sustainable Environment & Economy teams.

It's a great opportunity for an upcoming Planner to work with and support Council Planners on a range of projects, including: housing density study; enquiry by design; Aboriginal site assessment; planning proposals; development control plan and affordable housing contribution scheme.

Being a regional town and a small Council, you will get exposure to a wide variety of projects, setting you up for a successful Planning career. We recommend that you research your accommodation requirements and consider your options for accommodation across other local government areas such as Tweed, Ballina, and Lennox Head.

About you: 

  • Working towards qualifications in town planning/ place planning or related discipline or Certificate of Attainment in Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with experience in MS Office suite of software (Word, Excel and Outlook) and other web-based platforms.
  • Demonstrated sound interpersonal skills and ability to provide excellent customer service and deliver quality service outcomes as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

We offer: 

  • 12 months maximum term, part-time positions (21 hours per week - days and hours negotiable)

  • Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment at a salary in the range of $66,085 pa to $76,570 pa (dependent upon skills and experience)

Location (all roles): 

The positions are based at Mullumbimby however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
