  • Located at St Kilda Town Hall with flexible working arrangements possible.

About the Role

Are you passionate about heritage? This position is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in conserving the rich heritage of our City. Reporting to the Head of City Policy and working closely with Council’s Heritage Advisor and Strategic Planning teams. You will be responsible for conserving important heritage places in our City through assisting with the on-going implementation of Council’s Heritage Program. This will include co-ordinating heritage reviews and implementing heritage initiatives into the planning scheme and facilitating heritage outcomes on a range of projects including structure plans and planning permit applications. This will deliver on Council’s commitment to manage growth and keep our City a highly liveable, vibrant and sustainable place.

Duties:

  • Oversee the preparation of Heritage reviews
  • Undertake heritage related planning scheme amendments
  • Assist Council’s Heritage Advisor in the provision of high-quality heritage advice
  • Prepare heritage related policy and planning scheme provisions 
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including community and external heritage consultants, to deliver heritage outcomes

Skills and Experience 

  • A tertiary qualification in urban planning or a closely related field 
  • Sound experience in strategic and urban planning, with a focus on heritage, preferably in a local government environment
  • Experience in preparing and managing planning scheme amendments
