About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced and energetic professional to join our team as the Corporate Communications and Engagement Specialist on a permanent basis.  In this exciting and diverse role you will be responsible for developing, implementing and improving Parkes Shire Council's strategic internal and external communications and engagement strategies, helping to effectively promote Council's decisions, services, projects and events to our customers and to the community. 

You will develop and implement Council's Communication and Engagement Strategy, including managing the successful delivery of projects identified in the strategy and develop proactive communication strategies, programs and collateral to successfully enhance our organisation's corporate reputation across all media platforms.

About You

To be successful in the role you will require high level communication and teamwork skills and have a strong community focus. The role will lead and mentor the activities a team.

To be successful in the role you will also need to a have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience in developing and delivering communication strategies and plans
  • Highly developed professional written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in writing a wide variety of engaging material tailored for a range of audiences and platforms
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary media operational methods including thorough knowledge of the digital environment and social media
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Team leadership & mentoring
  • Proven ability to research, analyse issues, identify problems and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Current and maintained NSW Drivers Licence

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment. 

The role has been evaluated as being Grade 15 within Council's salary structure and offers a competitive salary circa $87,418 - $100,530 (depending on skills and experience) plus super and salary packaging options to increase your take-home pay.
