  • Salary Range Band 7 $104,964 - $117,440 plus 11% Super 
  • 12 month temporary full time role (with opportunity for extension)
  • Position Currently located at Clark Street Children’s Centre 

About the Organisation  

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses, and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more. What does success look like in this role? 

  • You will build and maintain meaningful relationships with children, families, colleagues, and the centre community. 
  • Participate as an active member of a highly experienced and reputable Team and Organisation. 
  • Engage in career building opportunities.  
  • Promote leadership and professional development of educators through coaching and reflective practise.  
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the centre, including childcare staff practices, promotion, and marketing of community related services. 
  • Manage budget and efficiencies including rosters/staffing. 
  • Advocate for the inclusion of children and families with additional needs and diverse backgrounds, ensuring professional support agencies and personnel are utilised when appropriate. 

The things we really need in this role look like:  

  • Previous experience as a Coordinator/Director working in Centre Based Childcare 
  • Childcare relevant qualification such as Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or an experienced Diploma of Children's Services 
  • Sound, practical working knowledge and implementation of the National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework. 
  • Strong understanding of rostering and managing the movement of staff 
  • Current First Aid Certificate, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma 
  • Knowledge of EYLF, NQS and WH&S Policies 
  • Previous experience with Assessment and Rating 
  • Child Protection qualifications and WWCC

Important pre-employment requirements

  • Evidence of qualifications 
  • Evidence of current first aid certificate, current CPR certificate and working with children’s check  
  • Sufficient proof of right to work in Australia, and proof of identity.  
  • Evidence of COVID-19 Vaccination or valid medical exemption in line with City of Port Phillip Vaccination Policy  
  • Complete a National Police Check completed via City of Port Phillip’s Provider. 
  • Employee type Working with Children Check
  • And be required to undertake a pre-employment medical check (at the cost of the council)
