About the Opportunity

We are a vibrant and community-focused Council committed to promoting arts, culture, and creativity within our region. Our Arts and Culture Officer will play a pivotal role in enhancing the cultural fabric, initiatives and programs across the Western Downs Region.

This role can be based at any of our major regional centres (Chinchilla/Dalby/Miles/Tara or Wandoan).

Reporting to the Arts and Culture Coordinator, you will be

  • Project managing regional arts, culture, and heritage projects, including supporting opportunities for increased cultural tourism, placemaking and public art, and development of creative industries.
  • Planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating arts and culture programs and events that build the cultural ecology of the region.
  • Facilitating projects, programs and opportunities that build regional cultural capacity and support professional development of artists, arts workers, and volunteers.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships and networks with individuals, artists, groups including the youth, and organisations to empower community.

About yourself

A person in this position will need to hold a relevant qualification in Arts/Business Administration, Cultural Development or in a related field OR be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience.

The successful candidate will have an interest, experience, and knowledge in the Arts, Culture, Heritage, and Cultural Development. The successful candidate is also required to have a current Queensland Driver's License and have, or be able to obtain, a National History Police Check, and a Working with Children Blue Card.
