Expression of Interest - Casual Lifeguard


The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley is an extraordinarily beautiful and sparsely populated area in the northeast corner of Western Australia (WA), and is known as one of the world's last wilderness frontiers. As a global tourism attraction, it is known for luxury accommodation, great food and friendly locals, and is an amazing and very unique part of Australia.  The Shire is diverse in many ways, with a unique mix of cultures, lifestyles and abundant opportunities.

About the positions:

The Kununurra Leisure Centre (KLC) features a range of facilities for competitive swimming, leisure and general community use; we have an eight-lane 25 metre pool, state of the art splash park and gymnasium. Excellent opportunities have arisen for  Casual Lifeguards to join KLC Team and in this  role you will assist in providing supervision to all patrons at the KLC Swimming Pool and Splash Park. You will also assist in ensuring that the facilities are well maintained, clean, tidy and aesthetically pleasing to all users of the aquatic facilities. This is a casual position with  hourly rates between $35.49 - $37.70  (dependant upon age, experience and qualifications)  inclusive of casual loading.  *If under 21 years of age, a junior rate will apply to this role.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated understanding of aquatic industry guidelines;
  • Well-developed water rescue and resuscitation skills;
  • Ability to perform deep and shallow water rescues;
  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and support other team members; and
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and experience.

Sadly these positions are  not eligible for any assistance with seeking housing. Applicants travelling to Kununurra are strongly advised to make themselves aware of the accommodation situation in Kununurra  prior to submitting an expression of interest.

This pool will be open for a period of 12 months, casual appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.

You will need to submit a covering letter outlining your interest in the position and your ability to meet the Selection Criteria (maximum two pages), a current resume and any other required documentation.
