The role provides independent, objective audit and assurance advice, designed to add value, mitigate risk and improve Council’s operations in line with best practice. This role will assist Council to accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and operational processes.

This highly respected role will manage the implementation of an internal audit plan for a diverse range of services and provide specialist advice to Council’s Audit Risk and Improvement Committee, General Manger, Executive Management Team and Staff. With the highly anticipated Risk Management and Internal Audit Framework likely to take effect soon, this is an opportunity to reinvigorate and make this role your own.

This is a permanent full-time role, working a 9 day fortnight, and offering flexibility for a great work/life balance.  Murwillumbah is located 15 minutes south of Tweed Heads (NSW).

We are seeking: 

• Degree level qualifications in Business, preferably with a major in accounting.
• Demonstrated experience in investigating and analysing complex and unstructured problems, to assess alternatives, and format practical solutions and strategies.
• A comprehensive knowledge of management concepts and practices and the ability to undertake risk analysis reviews.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
