Position No: 10176

Base Salary: $172,342 – $182,240 + Superannuation, Memberships, Vehicle & Relocation Assistance

Location: Emerald, Central Queensland

Term: Contract Position 3 – 5 years

How would you like to lead, develop, and support the fleet, workshop and depot operations that are vital to supporting one of Queensland’s largest council territories?

Central Highlands Regional Council is committed in delivering value to its community. As a result, we are looking for a high calibre individual to successfully lead the Fleet, Workshops & Depot Operations and become an integral member of the management team.

In this position you will coordinate and deliver comprehensive fleet services across council by centrally managing the regional delivery of fleet logistics, mechanical maintenance and metal fabrication services to Council, managing fleet assets and depot operations.

Your expertise and ability to provide strategic leadership and deliver operational improvements will be highly regarded. Working with us, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Prepare, review, and deliver council’s strategic and operational plans, including budgets, projects, and policies to support your departmental objectives
  • Managing the existing fleet and the replacement programs including plant equipment, vehicles and depot
  • A commercial approach to the day-to-day activities of the Branch ensuring cost effectiveness and goals of the Branch and Council are achieved
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements relevant to the Fleet, Workshop & Depot operations
  • Drive business performance by providing positive leadership and clear direction to all staff
  • Establish, build, and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external parties
  • Foster a positive, safe, and effective working environment and culture

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:

  • A proven ability to lead the operational functions of a Fleet, Workshop or Asset business unit/s within a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully managing budgets and projects
  • Tertiary qualifications in a Technical field or related discipline and substantial management experience
  • Certificate IV WHS (or equivalent) or willing to undertake
