We expect to grow to around 160, 000 people by 2040 and as Ballarat grows, the strategic planning team is at the forefront of managing that growth to ensure our lifestyle, liveability and heritage is protected. About the role An exciting opportunity currently awaits for an experienced and qualified Strategic Planner to join our team at the City of Ballarat. Reporting to the Manager Strategic Planning, you will contribute to the preparation of strategies and policies such as structure plans and heritage studies to guide the coordinated development of the City. This role will also see you taking an active role in achieving the overall strategic goals of Council and the achievement of Council objectives at a Corporate and Departmental level. This role is classified as band 6, salary range $81,777 to $88,340 per annum plus 10% superannuation. About you You have a knowledge and a solid understanding of strategic planning, practices and trends including the planning scheme amendment process and other relevant legislation. You have a recognised qualification in town planning or a related profession, along with relevant public and/or private sector experience in the field of strategic planning or statutory planning. You are highly competent with IT skills, including in GIS systems and possess a strong ability to develop innovative, efficient and practical solutions to issues. Excellent communication skills to assist in discussions and resolutions with the community, government, private sector representatives and staff. Key Selection Criteria
