About the Role

Based at the Dalby Corporate Office, you will be responsible for leading a team of Town Planners and Engineers with the objective of supporting development in the Western Downs Region. The main focus for this role is to maximise positive development outcomes for the community, for Council and the development community. 

Reporting to the Planning & Environment Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Mentoring, coaching and leading the Development Assessment team to make positive changes;
  • Establishing positive, self-sustained relationships with and providing advice to key stakeholders, including property owners, developers and internal Council business units; and
  • Analysing the community effect of development assessment, including a review of the impacts of Council's decision making, consulting with industry and reviewing planning schemes and other instruments.

About you

The successful applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in the assessment of development applications, including complex, controversial or major developments. Private development industry experience is highly desirable;
  • Experience in leading, coaching, developing and managing teams and driving process improvement;
  • The ability to communicate effectively and establish positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders; and
  • The ability to work autonomously, develop and implement business improvement, manage timelines, complex tasks & changing priorities.

You must hold a relevant Bachelor or other equivalent post graduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning or in a related field.
