Casual Ocean Lifeguard
Things We’ll Trust You With:
- You will be responsible to ensure the safety and well-being of all community members enjoying our Beaches.
- You’ll be proactive, mitigate risk and provide expeditious accident response.
- You will be professional, motivated and customer focussed – acting as a positive brand ambassador for Sutherland Shire Council.
- You will educate our community and promote ocean safety.
- You will organise daily maintenance, care, repair and security of amenities, plant, equipment and other assets assigned to or utilised by lifeguards within area of responsibility.
- You will lead by example and ensure beach cleanliness.
Things You’ll Do:
- You will be an integral part of the team, working across the summer season - Monday 13 September 2021 through to Sunday 24 April 2022.
- You will be dedicated, determined and demonstrate a proactive approach in applying yourself to the provision of lifeguarding, emergency response and beach supervision functions.
- You will showcase Council’s values in all that you do – Collaborate, Achieve, Respect, and Evolve.

- Casual Hourly Rate: $43.82
- Hours of work: Casual shifts available to support the operational needs of the Ocean Lifeguard Team. Available to work casual shifts over 7 day spread.
- Mandatory qualifications required to apply: (Copies of certificates must be included in your application) Certificate II in Public Safety – Aquatic Search & Rescue (Bronze Medallion), Current First Aid certificate (HLTAID003), Current Advanced Resuscitation certificate (HLTAID007), Current RMS Class C drivers licence, and NSW Working with Children Check.
Please note: Fitness testing (800m pool swim & ocean lifeguard mission) forms part of the recruitment process.
