Strategic Planning Coordinator

  • 3 year full time fixed term contract
  • Salary range from $95,000 to $103,000 per annum depending on experience

The City of Busselton, located in the renowned ‘Cape to Cape’ sub-region of the South West of WA, is a dynamic and fast-growing local government authority.  As an organisation we are dedicated to meeting the challenges presented by such growth and currently have an opening for an experienced professional to join our small and dynamic Strategic Planning team.

About the role:

Play a key role in enabling a responsive and integrated strategic planning framework that reflects ongoing community needs and aspirations; 

Guide the desirable long-term growth and development of the City’s  ‘Strategic Community Plan’ and ‘Local Planning Strategy’; and 

Assist with the planning and delivery of integrated strategic community and regional infrastructure.

Excellent leader who is strategic and visionary with a solid understanding of the Western Australian planning framework.

Enthusiastic and self-motivated.

Strong communicator with proven stakeholder management and community engagement experience. 

Committed to leading a small team creating a great workplace culture with the ability to model the City’s values which are Listening, Considered Decision Making, Appreciation, Respect and Team Work.

Applicants must include a statement addressing the below listed essential selection criteria to be considered:

  • Degree in Urban & Regional Planning or similar qualification.
  • Substantial experience (minimum 5 years) working in a similar Strategic planning role. 
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively leading a team.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated investigation, research, statutory interpretation and strong report writing skills. 

The successful applicant must also hold a National Police Clearance not more than six months old and a current “C” class driver’s licence. 

Previous experience in Local Government will be highly regarded.
