The Whitsunday Regional Council is situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. The region encompasses the 74 tropical Whitsunday Islands, the coastal towns of Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Shute Harbour and Bowen along with the rural towns of Proserpine and Collinsville. The Whitsunday region offers a dynamic environment and is perfectly placed to live, work, play and invest.

The Role

An exciting opportunity exists with our Parks and Gardens team for a Leading Hand. As the Leading Hand you will be responsible for coordinating and delegating labouring duties associated with maintenance, development and construction of Parks and Gardens assets and open spaces in the Whitsunday Region.

Essential

  • C Class “Manual” Drivers Licence
  • MR Licence or the ability to obtain
  • Construction Safety Induction (White card)
  • Certificate II or III in Horticulture

Desirable

  • Traffic Management Implementation
  • Certificate II in Chainsaw Operations
  • Commercial Operator’s Licence for the application of herbicides
  • Playground inspection qualification Level 1 and 2
  • Certificate in Traffic Control
  • Backhoe Licence
