Social Planning Officer



The role 

This position will sit within the Health and Social Planning team who undertake a wide range of community safety, health and wellbeing, social policy and community planning activities. The Social Planning Officer will engage and partner with the community to plan for and deliver social policy and infrastructure outcomes which meet the needs of our growing and diverse community.  

About you 

The successful candidate will have strong project management, data collection and analysis skills and experience in working with community groups and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.  Some of the key position objectives that the Social Planning Officer will deliver include: 

  • Identifying and responding to key social issues, development and trends as required.  

  • Working with community members and stakeholders to understand local social policy and infrastructure needs and collate relevant information and evidence to inform decision making.   

  • Undertaking community engagement with user groups of Council facilities in the planning of infrastructure projects.  

  • Contribute to the development, delivery and review of Community Development Strategies and Action Plans. 

  • To deliver projects that encourage communities to become more active, engaged and connected.  

  • To provide the City of Ballarat’s customers with an efficient, friendly, high quality service.  

  • To follow the City of Ballarat Code of Conduct and actively contribute to a friendly working environment.
