The Opportunity

This newly established role is an exciting opportunity for a proven leader to manage the governance and corporate risk function at Maitland City Council.

With responsibility for the integration of Council's risk management framework, internal audit function, business continuity and insurance programs, this role comes with the opportunity to drive change and make a positive impact organisation wide.

The Manager Governance and Risk acts as the Council's designated Public Officer and will also oversee the application of Code of Conduct and Code of Meeting practice for Council. In addition, the role is responsible for the management of Council's governance framework, information management and property portfolios to ensure they meet Council's strategic and service requirements.

The role requires a strategic focus whilst also directing and guiding a team to achieve key delivery and operational outcomes.

You

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate solid leadership skills and a strong background in corporate governance, risk and information management. With the ability to communicate complex concepts, you also have the capacity to effectively influence outcomes with stakeholders at all levels.

With a customer-focused, transformative approach, you will be a change champion and have continuous improvement and service delivery as your core drivers.

You will be an experienced leader, with a track record of managing and developing diverse work teams being a champion in Our Guiding Principles.

This is a permanent full-time role with a competitive salary package on offer (including a vehicle), which will be negotiated at time of offer with the successful candidate. Managers are entitled to take special paid leave during the period of Council’s annual shutdown over the Christmas period (typically 3-4 days), and an additional five days special paid leave each year for professional development.
