The Shire of Ashburton serves communities across a vast region in the Pilbara, Western Australia. The region is known for mining, agriculture and fishing, and for its rugged, ancient landscape. Tom Price is WA’s highest town, located right on the edge of the state’s second largest national park, Karijini.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Shire is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Safety Officer to join our Human Resources and OSH team. Reporting to the Manager Human Resources, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Shire’s occupational health and safety framework whilst offering workplace support, guidance and couching. In addition, you will also be responsible for the early identification, notification and prevention of health and safety risks, ensuring Shire compliance through awareness and training.

You will boast a relevant tertiary qualification in health and safety or related discipline and/or experience in a similar role and a comprehensive understanding of WA Legislation, Regulations, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards. In addition, you will be a resilient, pro-active, collaborative and hands-on professional with a passion for workplace health and safety with demonstrated experience in applying relevant principles and practices in driving a safety culture. Regular travel between Shire towns may be a requirement of this role.

This position offers a competitive remuneration package including annual Ashburton allowance, superannuation matching scheme and six (6) weeks’ annual leave.
