The Opportunity

Based at Council’s Incinerator Gallery, this Casual Gallery Assistant and Duty Manager position will see you assisting in the administration and delivery of events at the gallery, in addition to providing operational support as a team member under direction of permanent gallery staff.


Administration responsibilities include:

  • Providing support in the delivery of the venue’s Exhibition, Education and Public programs;
  • Maintaining the database and administrative records using Council record systems;
  • Assisting with handling and processing bookings to the venue, as well as financial transactions; and
  • Managing telephone enquiries in an efficient and friendly manner.

Duty Manager responsibilities include:

  • Opening and closing the Incinerator Gallery on weekends and evening events;
  • Invigilating and monitoring gallery spaces;
  • Managing front of house operations for the Incinerator Gallery to ensure a smooth running of the venue; and
  • Ensuring that venue equipment is set-up, used and packed down as per safe work policies and.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualifications, or currently undertaking qualifications in, fine/visual or arts administration with some work-related experience or equivalent work experience;
  • Demonstrated administration experience, ideally within the visual and performing arts or events sector;
  • Demonstrated experience in the daily venue operations of a gallery or other arts facility;
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol certification and First Aid qualifications, desirable but not essential;
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence and Working with Children Check; and
  • Availability to work rostered shifts that can occur Monday – Sunday between 8.30am and 9:00pm.
