Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to coordinate the administration and logistics of the Incinerator gallery’s onsite and offsite community exhibitions and community arts projects across the municipality. Within this role, there may be times where you’ll be required to provide support to the Incinerator Gallery front of house venue operations, exhibition openings, public art maintenance and ongoing improvements in venue business efficiencies.

 

This role requires significant stakeholder engagement across other Council departments and within the community to deliver visual arts programs and activities throughout the municipality to support the delivery of the Council Plan 2017 – 21 and MV2040.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging visual arts programs and activities at the Incinerator Gallery and venues and sites across the municipality;
  • Work in collaboration with community groups and individuals to develop and support visual arts projects and exhibitions throughout municipal neighbourhoods.
  • Manage administration of community arts activities including the monitoring of contracts and budgets throughout the year.   
  • Maintain up to date administrative records using Council’s record keeping systems; and
  • Ensure activities undertaken and developed are compliant with Council’s Occupational Health and Safety, Rick Management and Procurement Policy.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Cultural Development, Arts Administration or fine/visual arts with some work-related experience or equivalent work experience;
  • Demonstrated understanding in working with artists, community groups and contractors.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with a range of groups and individuals, to discuss and resolve internal and external problems;
  •  Demonstrated experience supporting the development and delivery of community arts projects and exhibitions;
  • Sound organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to monitor budgets and provide timely finance administration; and
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check.
