Do you have a passion for the Automotive industry and are looking to learn a trade? Canterbury Bankstown Council currently has an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join their team as a first year Apprentice.

Reporting to the Team Leader, Workshop Operations you will be responsible for assisting tradespeople perform day to day maintenance and repairs to Council’s diverse fleet of heavy and light vehicles, plant and equipment in a safe manner.

The salary range for this opportunity commences at $713.80 per week (Grade T) + 9.5% super.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Taking instruction from qualified Tradespeople to learn the trade of Heavy Vehicle Motor Mechanic
• Performing quality, scheduled, preventative and corrective maintenance to Council’s vehicles, plant and equipment in accordance with Manufacturer’s recommendations or adopted service schedules
• Completing accurate job sheets and collating appropriate paperwork
• Performing tasks within set time frames of a high standard and in a timely and cost effective manner
• Adhering to all safe work practices and WHS requirements
• Undertaking other duties as directed by Team Leader Workshop Operations and other Supervisory staff

Requirements:

• Completed Year 12 Secondary School
• Class C Manual Driver’s license
• Basic experience and knowledge in the corrective and preventative repair of medium and heavy vehicles
• Flexibility to work various shifts to suit work requirements
• Experience working within a team environment
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures
• Effective decision making skills
