Occupational Safety & Health Advisor



About the position:

The position of Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Advisor will support the City’s preparation of OSH systems in the lead up to Work Health & Safety Harmonised Legislation. The position will provide support to the Senior OSH Advisor and will be responsible for contractor OSH systems reviews, general OSH advice and support and the Citys OSH training and audit program.

Key accountabilities:

  • Provide advice and support to management, employees, contractors and members of the public on OSH, planning matters.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of third party OSH management documentation submitted to the City.
  • Administration of the Citys OSH Management documentation system to ensure currency of documentation plans, procedures and templates.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of workplace and City Contractors to identify and report any hazards and unsafe or unsatisfactory OSH conditions and practices.
  • Assist in the development of OSH management documentation, inclusive of coordination and delivery of inductions and audits in these systems to verity their effectiveness.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant is to have tertiary qualifications in occupational safety and health with extensive current experience supporting an organisations management or workplace safety.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary starting from $74,739 per annum or $37.82 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
