About This Role:

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Liverpool's strategic direction, engage with key stakeholders, and drive positive outcomes for the community.

In this position, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting effective relationships between the Mayor, CEO’s offices, relevant Ministerial offices, industry groups and government agencies. You will also oversee and prepare briefing materials for the Mayor, Council, and CEO on key issues, risks, funding commitments, and opportunities as well as provide expert analysis of legislation and intergovernmental policies.

ABOUT YOU

The successful applicant will have:

  • Degree qualifications in law, economics, political science, communications or other relevant disciplines
  • Class C Driver’s Licence
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in government relations or advocacy/communications dealing with senior Executives in either the public or private sectors
  • Proven skills and experience in initiating, developing, delivering and evaluating appropriate materials for use by senior leaders and executives when dealing with the Commonwealth and NSW governments at both Ministerial and Agency levels
  • Extensive experience in effectively developing and managing relationships with external senior leaders and across key internal organisation units to co-ordinate effective advocacy strategies.
  • Experience in managing political sensitivities and complex issues including exercising confidentiality on all matters
