  • Band 5 salary range: $67,364 - $78,487 (pro rata) plus 9.5% Superannuation
  • Part -time position until 30/06/2020 (2 days or shorter days over 3 days)

About the Organisation

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more.  

About the Role

There over 30 multicultural senior citizens club operating in City of Port Phillip which provide social and cultural activities. The role will provide support to multicultural seniors groups in terms of sound governance and applying for and acquitting grants. It will also work towards implementing strategies to ensure the future sustainability of these clubs.

Duties:

  • Provide senior citizens clubs assistance in applying for and acquitting Council grants programs.
  • Facilitate and deliver bi-monthly City of Port Phillip Multicultural Forum meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with the multicultural senior citizens groups to further develop strategic directions which supports future sustainability.

Skills and Experience

  • Relevant qualification in the community services or experience working with multicultural communities in a community capacity building context.
  • An understanding of the role multicultural seniors’ clubs in positive ageing and the challenges that these clubs face in terms of future sustainability.
  • Knowledge of sound governance for small community groups and the grant application and acquittal process.
