Salary up to $168,405 per annum plus superannuation and option of a motor vehicle equalisation allowance ($10,450pa) OR a lease for private use of a motor vehicle.
(Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications)

About the role

As part of the leadership team within our newly formed Sport and Recreation Division, you will take the helm as the Lifeguard Service Manager. Leading operations across 17 Patrolled beaches, 2 heated swimming pools, 6 public swimming pools, and 9 ocean rockpools, you'll spearhead a team of two operations Managers and a team of lifeguards, ensuring a culture of excellence and safety. Your role involves implementing tactical and operational outcomes from Council's strategic plans, overseeing lifeguard operations, fostering stakeholder relationships, implementing safety protocols, and driving continuous improvement to enhance customer experiences.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Develop and deliver effective lifeguard services through proactive leadership and innovative strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including external consultants, to advise and lead the delivery of an Aquatic Services Strategy for the City of Wollongong
  • .Lead and manage lifeguard teams, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for beachgoers and pool patrons.
  • Work across divisions to achieve strategic outcomes and contribute to creating an extraordinary Wollongong.
  • Implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of all visitors to our aquatic facilities.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends to continuously enhance our lifeguard services.

About you:

We're seeking a dedicated individual passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences in aquatic services, with a strong commitment to water and ocean safety. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant qualifications and experience in leadership and management within aquatic facilities or beach services.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively manage complex budgets and multi-site teams.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and a drive for continuous improvement.
  • A commitment to fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
