Directorate Business Manager - Business and Strategy



The Directorate Business Manager is a senior level role which works closely with the Director and Business and Strategy Management Leadership Team, in coordinating the development, implementation and progress reporting of strategic initiatives that support the Council Plan priorities.


In assisting the Director and Managers in managing, supporting and reporting on the delivery of Directorate projects, preparing and drafting corporate documents such as briefing papers, reports, presentations, policies and procedures, the incumbent will need to build effective relationships to facilitate cooperation, achieve agreed outcomes and effectively manage expectations.


Operating in a complex and political environment, the ability to analyse and synthesise information is essential. The position is required to coordinate and maintain group data, information, communications and knowledge management processes and systems to ensure up to date and accurate information is available and accessible by all staff.


The position will work across the Directorate to support delivery of objectives in a customer-focussed and collaborative way to provide an environment that sustains enthusiasm and commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist the Director and Management Leadership Team in preparing and writing critical corporate documents such as briefing papers, reports, presentations, policies, procedures and continuous improvement documentation as required.
  • Assist the Director and Management Leadership Team by participating in and where required leading cross directorate, cross corporate and cross functional projects and support the efficient delivery of these projects.
  • Communication, advice and information needs to be accurate, timely and unambiguous. The ability to be persuasive and to tailor communication messages to achieve a desired outcome appropriate to the diverse needs of the group and internal and external stakeholders is critical for the effective performance of the role responsibilities.


This is a temporary 2 year position with an attractive remuneration package.
