The Shire of Richmond comprises approximately 26,000 square kilometres in the heart of Queensland. Predominantly agricultural country, the Shire has gained prestige for its dinosaur fossil discoveries, due to being situated at the geographical centre of an ancient Cretaceous inland sea 120 million years ago. Richmond is now home to the renowned Kronosaurus Korner fossil centre. With a thriving tourism industry that sees 60+ visitors at Kronosaurus Korner each day, and with economic development opportunities in mining and energy knocking at the door, the Shire of Richmond is one of the most progressive of NorthWest Queensland.
